Here’s how God has shown up in Los Angeles, California 90003.
At just 60 years old, John Hawkins, a retired carpenter turned pastor, couldn’t believe how quickly his strength had faded.
He’d always been active — working with his hands, serving others, and caring for his family. But now, even simple movements were agony.
“Too young to be acting like I’m 89,” John said. “I couldn’t move, and I didn’t like it.”
It began years earlier when he moved back home to care for his mother, who was battling cancer. Not long after, his hip suddenly gave out — twice.
“I didn’t trip or fall. My hip just collapsed. I was terrified.”
Doctors ran tests and gave devastating news:
“Your tendon where the bone connects is gone. It’s bone against bone. You need a new hip.”
They recommended immediate hip replacement surgery, but after researching complications from implants, John decided against it.
The pain became unbearable. His wife, Rose, had to help him dress and put on his shoes.
“I was angry, frustrated, and didn’t want to move unless I had to,” he said.
Touching Heaven Through the Screen
One night, while flipping channels, John landed on The 700 Club — a Christian television program known for its powerful moments of prayer.
Hosts Pat Robertson and Terry Meeuwsen began praying live on air.
“There’s someone who’s been praying for a long time,” Terry said.
“God is in the midst of changing your situation. Begin to thank and praise the Lord before you even see it happen.”
John’s spirit leapt — he knew that word was for him.
“I said, ‘Lord, I’m going to touch and agree with them.’ I placed my hand on my hip and believed for healing.”
As the show ended, John quietly thanked God, turned off the TV, and went to bed — unaware that a miracle had just begun.
A Pain-Free Awakening
Two weeks later, as he was getting ready for church, John’s wife reached to help him put on his shoes.
“Wait a minute,” he said. “I haven’t had pain in my hip for two weeks!”
He realized he had been walking, bending, and even climbing in and out of the bathtub — all without pain.
“The last time I hurt was the day before I prayed with Pat and Terry,” he said. “That night, the pain left and never came back.”
Overwhelmed with gratitude, John fell to his knees in tears, praising God for what He had done.
“It was gone so fast, like I never had pain at all. I just cried and said, ‘My God, my God!’”
Fully Healed and Thankful
Today, John is completely pain-free, walking without a cane, and living a vibrant, active life again.
“I’m totally healed, and I thank God for it,” he said.
“God is awesome — I just can’t give Him enough praise.”
His testimony continues to inspire many who are believing for their own healing miracle.
“When you touch and agree with faith,” John says, “God moves.”
