Here’s how God has shown up in Ann Arbor, Michigan 48109.
The stillness of a snowy afternoon was shattered by flashing red and blue lights on a rural Michigan road.
In the freezing –9°F weather, Scott Peterson, a partner with Andrew Wommack Ministries, stopped to help a stranded motorist on an icy highway.
Moments later, another vehicle spun out of control, slamming into the ditch where Scott was working and pinning him between two cars.
“Jesus!” he managed to cry out before losing consciousness.
Emergency crews rushed to the scene and quickly realized how severe the situation was — Scott’s femoral artery had been completely severed, the main blood supply to his lower body.
He was rushed to the nearest hospital for emergency surgery.
Doctors warned his wife, Diane, that he had less than 24 hours to live.
Over the next seven hours, Scott was given 32 units of blood — more than three times the amount in the average human body.
But his wife refused to give up hope.
“Diane stood on the Word,” the ministry shared. “She refused to limit her faith to what doctors called the best-case scenario.”
Between Life and Death
Forty-eight hours later, Scott was airlifted to the University of Michigan Hospital in Ann Arbor for additional operations.
Doctors battled to save his life — and his leg — while his organs struggled under massive trauma.
“He’s not expected to live,” one surgeon told Diane. “If he does, the leg will have to be amputated.”
Still, Diane prayed with bold faith, drawing on what she had learned about God’s unconditional love and healing power.
Then, six days after the accident, Scott regained consciousness.
But the battle wasn’t over.
During a follow-up surgery, he aspirated, his lungs filled with fluid, and he slipped back into a coma.
For the next nine days, Scott was completely unresponsive — until he encountered something beyond this world.
A Glimpse of Heaven
“When I saw Him, I realized how much He loves us,” Scott recalled.
“I was happy to see Him — but He was even happier to see me.”
He described an overwhelming sense of acceptance and peace in God’s presence, knowing that he was completely loved and secure.
“That experience changed everything,” he said. “It helped me rest in His unconditional love during my recovery.”
Nine days later, Scott woke up — alive, alert, and ready to heal.

A Recovery Beyond Reason
Doctors had said survival was impossible.
If he did live, they expected years of rehab and amputation.
Instead, just nine months later, Scott was walking on both legs, driving again, and steadily regaining his strength.
His physician was astonished:
“If we’d seen this kind of recovery after three years of therapy, I’d be ecstatic,” the doctor said.
“But it’s only been nine months.”
Scott gives all glory to God.
“When I saw Jesus, I knew His love was my shield,” he said. “I’m alive because He kept me in His love.”
