God Story: God’s Hand in My Brain Injury and Healing

Here’s how God has shown up in Cape Cod, MA 02632.

On a cold November night in 2024, I had no idea that a flat tire would begin a chain of miracles. My wife, Sue, and I were preparing for a long holiday trip from Cape Cod to Michigan and Utah to see family and welcome a new grandson.

After dinner with friends, I accidentally hit a curb while pulling into a gas station, flattening our tire. Stranded and without AAA, a young man appeared out of the darkness — our first angel. He worked for more than thirty minutes to replace the tire, refused payment, and simply said, “God will reward me. Just pay it forward.”

The next morning, while repacking the car, I tripped over a cooler and struck my head hard on the driveway. I felt fine and dismissed it as nothing. We drove 750 miles to Detroit and continued our travels for seven weeks with no sign that anything was wrong.

A Hidden Crisis Revealed

On January 2, 2024, I noticed a limp in my right leg. A doctor visit showed nothing unusual, but two “angels” — both named Grace — urged me to go to the ER immediately. The next morning, a CT scan revealed my left brain hemisphere was filled with blood. Emergency surgery followed on January 4 — the very day I had been scheduled to fly to Detroit. That flight could have cost me my life.

The surgery was successful, but weeks later my neurologist warned that a more invasive craniotomy was needed to remove thick, dark fluid clogging my brain. It was risky, but waiting could be fatal. We scheduled it for March 5 at Elliot Hospital in Manchester, New Hampshire.

Faith Before the Operating Room

In the weeks before surgery, hundreds prayed for me. Each morning, Sue, our daughter Dena, and I prayed together. At a pre-op visit, my physician promised to pray for me too — a moment I’ll never forget.

The night before surgery, God gave me peace through a vision. Eyes closed but fully awake, I saw a map scroll across my mind with the words Queen City. Only later did Dena remind us that Manchester is nicknamed Queen City — God’s gentle confirmation that I was exactly where I needed to be.

The Miracle of Healing

The operation, expected to take 90 minutes, lasted only 30. I experienced no pain — only Tylenol afterward. My pain level stayed at zero, and I was discharged directly from the ICU.

Nurses and staff came by just to hear my story. I shared how God had healed me of chronic migraines years before. Two nurses broke down in tears, saying they also suffered migraines and wanted to read my book God Revealed.

A Chain of Miracles

Looking back, I see the Lord’s fingerprints at every step:

  • A kind stranger who fixed our tire and said, “Pay it forward.”

  • Two women named Grace who insisted on a life-saving scan.

  • A canceled flight that would have been deadly.

  • A doctor’s promise to pray.

  • A peaceful vision the night before surgery.

  • Zero pain, rapid recovery, and new faith connections.

Every step was guided. Every prayer answered. My life has been forever changed — not just physically, but spiritually.

Praise God for His perfect timing, protection, and grace.
